The Fast Cap™ with Metal Ring is truly a winner. Once attached to a lens or filter with metal threads, the base stays in place when the hinged, spring-loaded lid is flipped open by a flick of the thumb.
The Fast Cap™ with Metal Ring is truly a winner. It is not only loss-proof, but it's dust-proof as well thanks to the integral semi-"O" ring seal. The wrap-around design of the Fast Cap™ with Metal Ring lid effectively protects the rim of your lens or filter as well as the valuable optics. The threads in the metal ring attach easily and securely to both new and older lenses or filters. Once the metal ring is attached to a lens or filter, the base stays in place when the hinged, spring-loaded lid is flipped open by a flick of the thumb. The cover can be adjusted for the most convenient position of the opening tab. The Fast Cap™ with Metal Ring is available in a universal design to fit most normal/telephoto and wide angle lenses.
Check out the Converter Cap™ for a 77mm lens cover option.

The newly designed Fast Cap™ with Metal Ring is easy to attach and consists of three parts: plastic cap, camera ring and metal threaded adaptor ring.
How to Attach Fast Cap to your Camera
1. Take the entire assembly as packaged and screw it clockwise into your camera or filter as though it was another filter. (To first start, turn counter clockwise a quarter turn.)
To close: Press firmly in the center of the cap to engage the semi-O ring seal which locks out dust & moisture.
To remove: Close cap and unscrew as you would a filter.
For best results, annually lubricate the inside lid ring with a cotton swab and a light touch of silicone.
These are great as you can just pop them open and take a photo - no more missed shots fiddling with the camera. I just wish they'd make them in 46mm for some of the micro four thirds lenses.
I have a compact large-sensor camera (Sigma DP-2M) so I need a largish lens cap. Although the default lens cap was OK, I was delaying getting shots off having to figure out where to put the lens cap after I took it off.
The Op-Tech lens cap is great. The metal base is really well built, the action of opening and closing the cap feels really natural and springs into either position with just the right amount of force. I also really like that it is sealed, it offers even better protection against desert storms than a normal lens cap which always has small gaps.
The only thing I would change is improving the quality of the front cap material - it's a plastic that just does not quite do justice to the rest of the construction of the cap. But it is OK and as I said the cap actually works quite well. I'd have rated it five for construction quality if the front were nicer.
I really like the idea of the fast cap, but the cap casts a shadow on my pictures.
OP/TECH USA response:
The Fast Cap with Metal Ring can be rotated so that the cap does not interfere with the sun. I would recommend rotating it so the cap opens downward.
