The SOFT POUCH™– DIGITAL D-SERIES pouches from OP/TECH USA offer ideal protection against impact, moisture and dust. With the addition of the three “zoom” sizes, we can fit cameras with lenses measuring up to 6” (15,2 cm) in length. Avoid expensive repair and cleaning bills by protecting your camera while in use or in storage. These easy-access neoprene cases fit most film and digital cameras.
The pouches in the larger styles were designed with enough room in the lens area that a lens hood can be mounted backwards in the storage position and still fit in the pouch. Non-marring snaps securely close the flap cover on the bottom of the pouch. A unique retaining strap attaches the case around the lens or to the tripod mount so that it is out of the field of view when taking a picture (D-Micro, D-Mini, D-Small, D-Compact and D-Offset have a snap hook lanyard that attaches to the camera or strap), or it can be fastened to a belt or bag strap.
These pouches are great for use in the field as they are lightweight, weather resistant and the case closes around the neck strap so that the neck strap is still usable. This makes the pouches a streamlined and convenient way to protect your gear. There’s no need to carry the bulk of an oversized bag when you can have the protection and convenience of the SOFT POUCH™– DIGITAL D-SERIES.

The SOFT POUCH™ - DIGITAL D-SERIES is easy to use:
- 1. Lift rear flap over the pouch.
- 2. Placing thumbs inside pouch, turn the body of the pouch inside-out.
- 3. The lens portion of the pouch remains right-side-out.
- 4. The pouch is now ready to be fastened to the camera.
- 5. Place pouch over the lens.
- 6. Turn body of the pouch right-side out over the body of the camera.
- 7. The flap can now be closed over the camera.
- 8. To use the camera, simply reverse the above procedures (to step 5).

I've had my Digital D-Series Soft Pouch for about 2 weeks now and what great protection it provides. I leave my camera out all the time, (ya never know when you'll need it) and got it mainly to keep it as dust free as possible. But in the car I can now put it on the floor, put it in the console or outside set it on the ground or in the grass and don't need to worry about grungin' up my stuff. I got the (i) D-Midsize Zoom, Nature, and the Soft Pouch accommodates my K20D w/ Tamron 70-300mm no problem. And it's great when ya don't want it. Just unsnap from the camera and snap it to somethin' else. It's another cool item from Op/Tech and I would definitely recommend it. I have a Sony Nex 5. Which size pouch would be the best fit (18-55mm lens attached)?
Answer:
I looked online at: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10551&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666192716#specifications
and found the dimensions of the camera to be: 4.375"W × 2.375"H × 1.5625"D.
and at: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666192815#specifications
found the length of the lens to be: 2.375".
Which yields a total of: 4.375"W × 2.375"H × 3.9375"D.
The D-Small: 4.5"W X 3"H X 3.25"D would only work if you had a shorter lens. The D-M 4/3: 4.75"W X 3"H X 5"D would fit fine. The D-Compact: 4.8"W X 3.5"H X 3"D would only work if you had a shorter lens.

Answer:
The D-SLR Zoom size of the Digital D-Series pouches will fit your Nikon D-300s camera with a 17-55mm 2.8 lens. The D-SLR would fit if you had a regular (not zoom) lens attached.
