Dual Harness™

MSRP $39.95

  • Comfortably and securely carries two cameras or binoculars
  • Quick and easy access
  • Unique pad design evenly disperses the weight and balances the gear
  • Eliminates interference between the two cameras
  • Removable chest strap adds extra support and stability
  • Made in the USA

The Dual Harness™ is a comfortable and versatile way to carry one or two cameras or binoculars. The unique U-shaped neoprene neck pad evenly distributes the weight of your gear while absorbing the shock of your movements. As the Dual Harness™ uses the 3/8" connectors, your gear remains safely in the upright position at your sides. This keeps the camera stabilized and secured within your view and grasp. By also maintaining the camera in the upright position, no stress is put on your camera, lens or shoe-mount flash units. Your cameras can be quickly and easily brought to the proper shooting position with the self-gliding connectors.

Since the Dual Harness™ incorporates OP/TECH USA’s 3/8" connectors, your tripod mount is available to use for brackets and other adaptors. These connectors also make it possible to quickly switch to another OP/TECH USA neck strap when desired.

The interchangeable design enables you to convert from a dual to a single shoulder sling system, and the removable chest strap gives you that extra measure of security. With your gear safely stowed, you're free to concentrate on taking the perfect photo.

I don't normally write reviews, but this item is just too good to not carry on about. I've been eyeing this product for a long time and have read raving reviews. Now that I have my very own Dual Harness, I am able to brag right along with all the other positive reviews. The Dual Harness is made from superb materials and workmanship that you can only find in the USA. Kudos to OP/TECH for making such a great product and making my life easier as a sports photographer. I trust my $2,800 Nikon glass with your products!

I am a girl, I carry a BIG camera and lens. I am in pain when I use my regualar strap for any period of time. I didn't buy this to use as a dual harness, I got it so I can comfortably use one large camera. I LOVE that it connects to the other straps. That way I can easily change it back and forth between different camera setups and still have a regualar strap. This product makes heavy gear bearable! It puts the weight on the shoulders instead of the neck. I am going to buy one for my husband as well so that he can carry two cameras if I need him too, or just the OTHER camera. He is big and strong so he can handle two at once. I hate changing my lens in the field, so I bring mulitple bodies. I LOVE this PRODUCT. I only have on thing, I wish they had done different, the male and female straps, Make both sides the same on each part of the strap. I did configure my strap incorrectly so I can use it mainly as a one camera strap. So all of my gear is backwards. But nice and comfy, that is what matters to me :)

I've just bought this harness and it's great to work with two cameras. It's also very comfortable and practical. It would, however have been very useful if it were possible to attach just a single camera centrally. It can be done by changing the camera part of the straps over to the opposite side of the camera but that is a bit of a nuisance when it would have been so simple to design it so that it was possible without this fiddling. I like the harness because:

1. The weight is distributed across my shoulders rather than around my neck...

2. I can carry my cameras with an RRS L Bracket or another type Arca Compatible Bracket mounted. The Black Rapid and Cotton Carrier have possible problems carrying with brackets mounted since the method of attaching the cameras to these carriers is by the tripod socket.

3. The cameras can be raised to shooting position quite easily...

4. I can carry my cameras beneath my shooting vest for security in crowds...

5. I can remove the camera from the OPTECH Dual Harness and attach it to a single neck strap with the tabs that are connected to the camera...

6. It is not as obtrusive as the Cotton carrier...

7. I think that it balances better with flashes attached than the Black Rapid but, not quite as well as the Cotton Carrier...

8. I don't like the belt connection of the Cotton carrier for camera #2...

9. I use a light weight carbinier (mountain climbing) clips attached to either the waist adjustment straps of my shooting vest or to the side belt loops of my trousers (when I am not wearing the vest) and attach a clip to each camera when I am running or climbing. This prevents the camera from swinging around with my movement...

10. The Dual Strap is relatively inexpensive compared to either the Black Rapid or especially the Cotton carrier...

11. Although I don't shoot with the Canon rebel (series) cameras, I would be worried about carrying one of these cameras on a Black Rapid Strap because the tripod socket is metal reinforced plastic. Carrying a Rebel (series) camera with a heavy lens such as the 24-70mm f/2.8L might put too much of a strain on the lens....

12. Carrying a 70-200L (series) lens with Black Rapid Strap attached to the tripod ring would be awkward for me... (posted on 3/3/11)

Just photographed a wedding using this dual harness. That was so so good and made my day easier.
I usually photograph weddings from early morning, until late night (8am-midnight). That means I'm carrying two big cameras, with all the time. (With heavy lenses, 24-70 on my right and 80-200 on my left.)
Using that dual harness, I don't have to worry about my cameras, because they just stay safe all the time.
Most of the people don't even realize, what kind of strap I'm using, because I usually wear it under my jacket, and only my big lenses are visible, and that I'm changing my cameras all the time.
I really like it!
I would like to also mention, that I usually detach the cameras from it, when I'm driving, but it takes about 10sec, not more, to put them back.

I was suffering severe neck strain from carrying my heavy camera with even a thick cushioned neckstrap. I was instructed to carry it over my shoulder but I felt insecure knowing $5,000 was just one slip away from crashing to the ground. Also, I wanted to carry two camera/lens combinations and I was really insecure that one or the other or both would slip.
I investigated another recently popular "upside down" dual camera strap but found it ridiculous in both the way you couldn't use a tripod and EXPENSIVE -- nearly $150!
Somehow, I happened across an ad for the OpTec USA Dual Harness for less than $50 delivered to Hawaii! When it first arrived I was a bit baffled by all the straps but soon mastered putting it on easily (put it on first and then attach the cameras). It took 30 minutes or so to get the adjustments correct but that is just a one time thing (unless you change which shoulder you carry which camera).
Now, I can carry either one camera or both all day with no strain and barely realize they are there. Either camera/lens combination is just a quick move away from taking pictures while the other camera/lens remains safe (and right side up!) at the side. Note: I use the Dual Harness even when I plan to carry only one camera as it prevents neck strain. It is so comfortable I often find myself driving home from an event having forgotten to remove the harness after safely stowing the cameras!
I not only would recommend this product to a friend, I would recommend that all "neck doctors" recommend it to their photographer patients! (posted on 10/6/10)

Question:

What weight kit are these designed for?

Answer:

The Dual Harness can comfortably support up to 15 pounds (6.8 kg) per side.

Question:

Can the Double Sling be converted into the Dual Harness or visa versa. I don't see much difference between the two except for the front strap.

Answer:

There are several difference between the Double Sling and the Dual Harness.
1. The Double Sling uses two Sling Strap Adaptors for connecting two cameras. The Dual Harness uses four 3/8" webbing connectors to connect the two cameras.
2. The cameras on the Double Sling can then slide up and down the webbing on the Uni-Loops. The cameras on the Dual Harness do not slide.
3. The Double Sling generally uses one connection point on the camera, while the Dual Harness uses two.
4. The Dual Harness comes in two sizes, while the Double Sling only comes in one.
You can unclip the Sling Strap Adaptors from the Double Sling, and replace them with another connection type (3/8" Webbing, Pro Loop Connectors, etc) if you wish.
